Anxiety & Depression

For over 20 years, I have counseled clients who struggle with depression and anxiety. I have seen clients struggle with getting out of bed, insomnia or sleeping too much, attending to daily activities, eating too much or not enough, isolating or engaging in unhealthy relationships, and a flood of other emotions that often leave people paralyzed to function properly.

My strengths-based approach to mental health is a collaborative process based on your strengths and assets to determine your outcomes. I also utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy, focusing on learning new adaptive behaviors and feelings that can replace current ways of thinking and behaving.

I focus on emotional regulation, healthy boundaries, decreasing symptoms of depression and anxiety in a present-day approach while drawing on the past by recognizing old memories and patterns and move towards making new memories.

Family Therapy Sessions

Many couples have conflicts over communication, parenting, child-rearing, finances, and life changes. I have worked with numerous couples who want to repair their marriages due to increased conflicts in their relationships. I counsel couples to help improve their communication and connectedness within their relationship.

I want all clients to feel safe in sharing their feelings during sessions. I provide the structure and boundaries to sessions and assess areas of concern for either partner.

School-Related Issues

I have over ten years of experience working as a social worker in a variety of school settings. I am adept at special education law and advocate for children and their families.

It is important to remove barriers to be successful academically. I have used many evidence-based social emotional learning curriculums to help students replace maladaptive behaviors with more adaptive behaviors.

Children & Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder

For years, I have counseled clients who are living with autism spectrum disorder. I understand that individuals with autism have challenges with communication and social skills. I have seen clients experience difficulty having conversations and not picking up on social cues. I also understand that some people with autism spectrum disorder may not talk at all, and others may talk very well, but all will have some challenges making friends and/or communicating socially.

Our counseling sessions may reduce these symptoms, improve cognitive ability and daily living skills, and maximize the ability of the client to function and participate in the community.

I focus on emotional regulation, healthy boundaries, and patterns to move towards making new memories.
